יום הודו

I had this thought as I was preparing to explain to my Ulpan teacher why I am skipping out on thursday class.

Thursday is יום הודו day of thanks, but הודו also means turkey, so יום הודו has a double meaning of day of thanks and turkey day...perhaps the true origins of having turkey on this special day doesn't have to do with pilgrims..HMMMMMMMM

  • also, did you know that turkeys were imported to Europe from India via Turkey, which led them to be called Turkey in Europe, but Hodu in Israel and the middle east, after the original place where it came from! interesting...

or i may have just made that up.
