whats in a name

chanalana has decided she does not like her name. she gave us a few choices to call her; shoshana, hadassah mindy, or rusi. we discussed that her name is very important and we dont change it . but she still wants it changed. when i finally gave in and told her we would call her hadassah mindy she then asked if she should tell all her friends in school. so then we went back to the fact that we really dont change names. we brought up batch who has tried to change her name to shev, but we're still fighting it. we offered to call her hans or hana or chan or just elana or lanny but those didnt fly with her shes pretty set on hadassah mindy.

  • Get her a cabbage patch (or some less expensive doll) and name it Hadassah Mindy; then tell her she has a doll named that and she can't have the same name as her doll. That should satisfy her.

  • Is she named for someone or two people? She should be told who they were and how honored a child should be to carry on the name. Just a suggestion.

  • Can you ask her if Dassie is OK, or just Mindy I'm not a fan of Hadassa Mindy, doesn't have a good flow

  • Jonah doesn't want to change his name but he does say that his friends don't believe that his name is really Dovid Yonah Yitzchak. Also, he tells people that Kayla's name is Rivkah because Israeli's don't know the name Kayla.
