Rummy Q rules

We had a disagreement this past Shabbat with mom about Rummy Q rules (don't worry this was nowhere near the level of a Monopoly fight:)
I had two tiles left on my board a Joker and a 12. I used the joker as an 11, put down the 12 and won. Mom and I think Batch said that I can only use a joker with two of my own tiles. Nat and I claimed that - that rule only applies when you take a joker off the board.
how do you play?

  • i think bubba's rules clearly state that it must be used with 2 of your own, however if its the last 2 tiles, i dont think she would say that you need to keeep picking in order to use your tiles up

  • You and Nat are correct. An alternative rule allows any substitution of the joker (that's how we used to play) but the official rule regarding two from your hand involves replacing a joker

  • official rules or not... Bubba rules were clearly that you can only play the joker with 2 from your own hand...and therefore could not end the game using the joker and one other piece. Made us mad, but those were the rules.

  • I just hope you played with 12, 13,1.

  • you should be able to play a joker from your hand in any way that you want.
