succos in detroit

for all of those living in the holy land of israel i just wanted to let you know that here in detroit it is cold. scrape the frost of your shlock cold. nose dripping in the hot cocoa cold. even succos- sweater cold. now i am not complaining because firt of all i have no idea what the weather is like where any of you are living, but i am merely aying the schar mitzvah people get for sitting in the cold has got to be greater than those sitting in the not as cold. gut moed

  • David of course refers to the Ramban, who says all mitzvot in chul are merely "הציבי לך ציונים", mere reminders for coming back to Israel.
    On a more succa-related note, it's commonly mentioned that the mitzvah is a prime example of the Israel-centric aspect of the mitzvot, since the time of year was picked when the weather here is appropriate.
