2nd Annual יום העצמאות BBQ

We hope everyone who came last year enjoyed the BBQ as much as we did. Either way, all of the Zackses & Horwitzes are invited to round 2, same place as last year (San Simon park, right near my parents house). Lots of firsts

The day started unlike most days, with my having to wake up early. I woke Quaggy on his last morning of Quagginess, b/c the mohel said he needed to be finished eating an hour before the bris. Then off to the shul, which I made it to on time for a 6.30 shacharit! The bris was held at the Shimon Hatzadik shul in Katamon (probably it's really San Simon...) After much deliberation (not actually at the bris - but in the months leading up to the bris) we settled on a name, changed the order, and came out with Yisrael Chaim, aka Sruli. Yummy bagels, muffins, cheeses and more were enjoyed by everyone who wanted :) We finished up the bris in a most unusal fashion with sheva brachot for friends of mine whose wedding I had to miss as I was in the hospital at the time with a brand new baby!

After a nice nap at home, it was off to the other side of town where we met with some lawyers and signed lots & lots & lots of papers as we bought a new apartment! It's a 4 room (which means 3 bedrooms), first floor, lots of living space and a nice grassy park outside. It is being built right now by two cranes named Buster & Douglas. They are aiming to be finished in May 2010.

An American Revolution

David Shany and Shilo Zacks are proud to announce that after many years of busses and tremping, and a little bit of walking, we have bought a car. She is a silver Chevy.

The end of a perfect Israeli trip

After dealing with Israeli lawyers, real estate agents, bankers , and home owners, We just bought a vacation home in Armon Netziv, suburb of Jersusalem. It will not be available to occupy for 1 yr. It is a 3 bedroom- 2 bath -ground level apartment with a magnificent view . Everyone is invited for a maleva malka and chnukas habais. We will let you know the date

Tomorrow is the bris of the first non- zacks zacks. Tremendous thanks to Shlomo and Sarra for moving the time of the bris to an un- g-dly early hour so that we can attend. If everyone could please daven for only a little trafic tomorrow morning so that we will be able to get to our flight at 10:15 am it would be appreciated.

Things

today was a very sad day for me. yes over the last 5-6 years my siblings have all slowly left me. and i have handled it very well in my own special way. many of you have not known the deepness of my sadness because i hide it so well. but in any case today i needed help moving a dresser from my house to moms and i called shauli to help and he said he would but he didnt have a car. i then called arye and he never even called back. i guess he was too busy. i didnt want to bother sim cuz it was goldas biorthday and david was working and shani was sick so he had to watch shilo. so i had to call 3 friends before someone was able to help and then i had to call a 4th person to actually get someone over here. i remember when just a phone call to my dear brothers would have had them dropping everything to come help me ( for just a beer) . and now i have been reduced to calling mere friends instead of family and it hurts. oh not as much as jumping on a bicycle without a seat but it hurts. none of you worry though, i'll make it through this like i have made it through everything else. (batch we took your dresser, thanks)

parking ticket update

i have been vindicated in NY state court that we did not break the lw and double park as we were ticketted such and the fine was reduced to $0. woohoo. G-d willing the other ticket will be equally reduced and all will be right with the world
