so what am i gonna do with the rest of my life?

ok so we had career day in school today- basically a bunch of religious women from various jobs came to talk to us about what they do, and how they handle job and family, job and religion, yadda yadda yadda. we got to choose a couple jobs we wanted to go to, and they pick 4 sessions that we have to go to. so my 4 were
1) Psychologist
2) Lawyer
3) Computer Graphics
4) Social Worker
I ruled out lawyer right away- just not the kinda thing i wanna do. it looks cool on law and order and a few good men, but in reality its all paperwork and i dont have the concentration or willpower to do that all day. The computer graphics stuff looked interesting- the woman who gave the session does graphics for a magazine and she showed us how she does a lot of the stuff, and then the finished products. it looked really cool and maybe i would do that part time while im in college or something, but its not something i would go into as a real career.
The real dilemna is between a psychologist and a social worker. i know i really want to do one of those things- i love helping people, and talking about their problems. i love listening to peoples problems and lives and helping them figure out what to do with themselves. after talking to a lot of people, i realized i really want to be a psychologist- social workers arent as personal, and even clinical social work is a lot more about fixing situations then listening to problems. do you know what i mean?
Anyways, here are the drawbacks of psychology:
1) its really hard to spell
2) you have to go through 9 years of school, which basically means putting your life on hold for 9 years. i dont know if i want to commit to that.
3) psychologists have the highest suicide rate in america
4) you have to be completely stable yourself to be able to help other people, and i dont know if ill be ready for that at the end of graduate school
5) its hard to seperate yourself from your clients- not to take your work home with you and stuff
But, here are the plusses:
1) its something i REALLY want to do
2) i actually think i would be good at it
3) the salary is really nice- 40-45,000 a year, at least at the beginning

the thing is with social work, the schooling is only like 4-6 years so i could totally start a family in the middle of college. the salary is worse though, and impossible to live off of.
basically it comes down to starting a family early, or getting a really great salary right out of college. i really want to go into psychology, but i feel liek the negative parts override the positive parts.
i know i dont have to be worrying about this yet, but oh well...i am :)
tell me wut to dooooooooooo
love ya!!

Your Aura Is Purple

It's true. After spending a Shabbat with the new family Aura, I can say - she's Purple. In fact, i'm calling her Purple.

Breadman 2000

During Sheva Brochus for Nat and me, Yaakov gave a speech that somehow tied into Mom making challah for us. He said that we had a yearlong grace period of Mom making Challah for us. After that we are on our own.

So it is with sadness, but at the same time joy, that after three years of Mom making challahs for us every week that we welcome the Breadman Breadmaker into our home. I don't think this will completely end our challah relationship with mom, since hers is quite an awesome loaf of challah, and it will take some time for Nat(or me?) to learn the Breadman.

It's a Miracle!!

This is part of Zacks family lore. To all those new to the family (me and newer), here it is. Love you, Chag Urim Sameach!!

Also, we are now Jews of Modiin. And it doesn't take half a day's journey anymore to get to Jerusalem. But it still takes 4 days to get to the Galilee.

Challah

My challah has been perfect every Shabbos since I got here. Rises like nobody's business. On another note, I have only used the powdered yeast for VERY unsuccessful yeast cakes. So now I know. It's all about fresh yeast.

Have a good Shabbos!
